1335 | Lange & Vannatter interview Simpson. Asked when he last drove the Bronco -- TL When did you last drive it? OJ Yesterday. PV What time yesterday? OJ In the morning, in the afternoon. In his book {page 65} Fuhrman says they should have asked "which was it?" when those who have followed the case know the answer would have been "BOTH". That is, unless the latter addition was to cover for someone else having the Bronco. Simpson answered "In the morning, in the afternoon." |
1350 | Upon being told there was blood all over Rockingham, Simpson volunteers his as a comparative sample. Peratis, a Los Angeles City Jail nurse, testified that he drew Simpson's blood and transferred the blood from the syringe to the vial and gave it to the detectives. He said he did not seal the envelope. In grand jury testimony, he had said he had drawn 7.9 to 8.1 cc of blood. He said he is now unsure of the quantity that was drawn because the calibration marks on the syringe were facing down as he drew the blood. Later, the defense discovers 1.5 ml of blood are unaccounted for. This discovery gives rise to the need to develop a test for the EDTA -- a MANMADE chemical used to preserve collected blood. |

1407 | On tape of Simpson interview, Lange says, "We're ready to terminate this at 14:07." That brought to an end a 32 minute interview. Hear it, Marcia Clark (page 71) says: "Phil and Tom both sounded exhausted---that was understandable. They'd been up since three the morning of June 13. But that was no reason to allow a potential suspect in a double murder to set the program for the interview." An interesting statement. By all accounts, OJ Simpson has awakened around 5:30 AM on June 12th. After a full day, he had finally gone to bed around 5:00 AM PCT on the 13th -- nearly 24 hours without sleep. He was shocked awake an hour later with the news of Nicole's murder. At the time of the interview, Orethal James Simpson had effectively been awake for thirty-two hours. Interesting, Marcia is feeling sorry for two seasoned detectives who had been awake for approximately eleven hours. Were these detrectives so incompetant that after eleven waking hours they could be manipulated by someone who hadn't slept for thirty-two hours? |
